Never heard of it? – That’s okay because this January is the first time that London has ever hosted a Light Festival of this size!
Produced by Artichoke and supported by the Mayor of London expect to be dazzled at how light has transformed London’s urban environment. The Festival can be located in 30 different locations spread across the most popular areas in London; Mayfair, King’s Cross, Piccadilly, Regent Street and St James’s, Trafalgar Square and Westminster and has been run over four evening for a 4 hour period each night and best of all it’s free!
King’s Cross area was a good place to start, and just hop on the tube to Oxford Circus to explore the other areas.
If you didn’t manage to go then please enjoy these photographs to get a taste of what went on…
If you are interested in this type of artwork and creativity, Amsterdam holds its own Light Festival, which normally runs from November to January every year and you can enjoy the festival from the comfort of a canal boat or on foot. www.amsterdamlightfestival.com
