I’d always heard good things about Colchester Zoo, and having exhausted Port Lympne and Howletts I thought it was about time to find out for myself, so this weekend seemed as good as any. I have been an animal lover since I was a toddler, always preferring fluffy animals than the original Christmas gift doll, which one year even got thrown across the living room from such disgust and disappointment.
I think this post speaks through my photographs rather than the written word. However, I can say that the zoo was a generous size and you can easily spend a good day there, well worth the £20 entrance fee. The variety of animals was vast, from rainforest birds to huge vultures, the classic elephant to playful otters. Food and drink huts were widely spread out amongst the zoo and play areas for the kids were available if they weren’t bothered with the animals. Weekends are stupidly busy and be sure to get your feet run over by a pushchair or be shoved along by a father carrying his two kids in front of him. Colchester offers a slightly different experience in being that the public are able to feed the giraffes and elephants, of course there was no way of getting in that queue this weekend! Even so, please enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
